with a few simple materials, i gave a much-needed update to some of these older, plain, or just not-so-good-looking pieces:

most of you probably have these materials just laying around your house waiting to be used on a fun project...
spray paint. this is one of my favorite crafty items because you can easily update the look of something just by changing its color. and for $4, that's a
cheap makeover.

a little spray paint love...

glitter. thanks to my mom, glitter holds a very special place in my heart. over the years she has been nick-named the glitter queen, and rightly so. she just does glitter right. back to the point, i wanted some new birds for my springy-decor, so of course, i headed straight to michael's. they had some plain birds for $2+ and had similar glittery birds for $4+. instead of paying michael's to pre-glitter my birds, i bought the plain ones and decided to glitter my own! i saved almost $10 by buying the plain birds and using glitter i already had at home.

(i always swear that i will never use the iPhone again for pics and yet i keep coming back to it. convenience is such a nasty evil.)before

i simply painted the tacky glue on the birds with a paint brush and then sprinkled the glitter over the glue. i did each bird differently....some were covered completely in glitter, while some just got a glittery tail. don't be afraid to do things your own way. that's what creativity is all about!
