are you ready?
and coming soon. tuesday's forecast, lemoore, ca: 100 degrees. need i remind you that it's april? i am not ready. my house is not ready. my husband is not ready. the real question begs, will we ever be ready for 100? lol. i can't even answer this.our humble home has no ac and no fan in our bedroom (have i ever told you my husband and i are sleeping inferno's?). alls we've got is a swamp cooler that hasn't been used in months, which will most definitely reek of polliwogs. to do list?
-hose out the swamp cooler
-buy a fan for bedroom
so my question is, are you ready for 100?

spring break
although i don't get a spring break (don't feel bad for me, i'll finish one week sooner than all the rest of you punks! oh, wait, my program goes through the summer too. well, sucks for me.) anyway, although i personally don't get a spring break from school, i love spring break this year. i love it with my whole heart. why, you ask? because i get to have dinner and cook with my husband 8 nights in a row!! that means we get to hang out before the sun goes down!! that my friends is glorious in the fire-academy world.
today we decided to go on a little run together. because of spring break, we are both missing our weekly work outs which is NOT good...in other words, it's now on US to get a work out or not. ugh. i hate when it's up to me. so, we decided to take a jaunt around the ranch. jamesy ran a little faster than me (okay, a lot faster), while i hung back, took my time, enjoyed my music (thank you sister for being the best dj ever), while enjoying the scenery.
at one point, i looked ahead and james wasn't in front of me anymore. i looked all around and saw his little body directly across the field from me. geez, he had already gone up, over, and back down the field...he's a fast little critter. i wasn't pressured at all, just enjoyed the beautiful day out there...i soon finished the 'gone-up' part, and was now working on the "over" part and couldn't even see james at all anymore. i was running directly next to a wheat field when i looked down and saw all these tiny little daisies! yes, you might say they are weeds, but i say they are lovely. i paused the run for a quick second to grab as many of these daisies as i could. i continued running with iPod in one hand (wish i owned a shoulder strap), and daisies in the other. quite a while later, james came running back towards me to get a longer run in. i looked up and saw him dying laughing. dying laughing as he watched his wife run toward him with a bouquet full of "weeds." glad i can still amuse him after all these years. (ok, really just 7).
now that the pretty weeds are arranged on our dining room table, i get to go tackle the REAL weeds in the yard. not looking forward to it so much.... hmmm...
(mom, this double post is for you. i'm sure you are happy to see me back to the happy postings! well, i hope you are thinking about me at the beach. i will enjoy my daisies here in the valley while you enjoy the ocean. for some reason that just doesn't seem fair...)

who needs PB?
directly out our back door (which is actually the front door from where we park), is a barn. a big old barn. (that is so lovely).
attached to the barn is a little room. it used to be the milk man's something rather, but i can't remember.
the roof of that little room is old. and i have always noticed that it looked somewhat mossy, but i never checked it out up close. well, friday afternoon my hubby got the ladder out and i got up there to check it out for myself.
boy oh boy, that roof is covered in moss. i couldn't believe my eyes! (and my father-in-law couldn't believe how excited i was about that.)
i used his little scraper to carefully remove some of the moss off the roof and told my husband all i needed to do now was find the perfect place for it in our home. i realize it's probably really weird to some people to want to bring moss into their home. but hey, people BUY moss like crazy these days (myself included), so to get it for FREE is awesome! i'm not complaining that's for sure. :)

one week ago
i showed you this.

the blossoms had started but were very random. some trees had 'em, some trees didn't.

just one week later and the trees are covered in lovely white blossoms. nature sure moves fast, doesn't it?

please excuse the bad quality pictures. i have been too lazy to take my camera outside and have been using my phone instead. lame i know.

i had a fun weekend with lots of crafting time. i have been inspired to spring-up our house so i worked on accomplishing that goal. :) i was planning on posting some pics but it will just have to wait as i haven't finished yet. last night we were down at the pet ER with one of our little finchies (yes I called him a finchie not a finch) because we thought he broke his foot. :( he is home now but still in a delicate stage. he can't even be with the other birds right now. it was a sad night. and my house looks like it threw up pastels and branches. hopefully it will look better once it's actually decorated with this stuff! i hope you had a great weekend!
PS- are you excited for the bachelor finale tonight?! cannot wait.

and it begins
james and i went for a walk yesterday and saw this. i guess the almond trees are ready for spring! it's funny though...one tree will have 20 blossoms on it and the 100 trees surrounding it have zero blossoms! nature taking it's course i guess. :)
if you have read my blog for any time at all, you know i love love love winter and can't get enough of it. but you also know that the one thing i love most next to winter is cherry blossoms and blossoms of all sorts. so if i can't have winter, i am happy to have these out my front, side, and back windows of our home.

use what your mother gave you
mother-nature that is.
although winter is my very favorite season, it doesn't lend itself to having many nature-friendly items to bring inside and spruce up the home. more specifically, you can't just go outside and pick pretty flowers. well, after cleaning my house the other day, i wanted to liven it up with something from the outside. i went out and was surprised to see these darling yellow flowers (from what i think is a weed) so i cut a couple. then i cut some leaves from a plant (that might be a weed too) because they were big and exotic looking and i love that. i just placed the leaves in votive holders and a vase and i think they look so fun. surprisingly these little beauties have lasted really well. i clipped them almost a week ago and they still look great.
the point is, even in the midst of winter, if you get creative you can still cheer up your home with natures best, even if it is just a weed. :)

does anyone know if this yellow flower is in fact a weed?

grey days

i love rain. and i love days like today. rainy, misty, mysterious, gloomy. there's almost nothing (maybe a bit of an exaggeration here) more beautiful to me. something about it brings me to life and makes me smile a whole lot. i would be happy if 363 days a year looked like this. (don't worry, i know most of you find it depressing and i still don't understand why).
thankfully my husband shares the same love for gloomy days as i do. maybe we should live in seattle and walk down streets like this. (this is what i picture seattle to look like in all its romantic and mysterious weather).
